Improving Connection Through the Power of Language

A 4-hour CE Workshop for Mental Health Professionals

In this course we will focus on identifying what blocks compassion and connection and how to increase and improve compassion and connection by: developing and increasing awareness of thoughts, feelings, and needs; improve feelings and needs vocabulary; identify the kind of conditioning and thinking that leads to anger and conflict; learn how to communicate and listen for feelings and needs to diffuse anger and reduce conflict; learn how to empathize using NVC.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify the thinking and conditioning that blocks connection, the root causes of anger, and how to transform anger into life-serving action.
  • Learn about the role needs play in behavior, about the relationship between feelings, needs, and behavior, and the 4 parts of the NVC model.
  • Learn how to diffuse conflict and create more connection through the identification and communication of feelings, needs, and requests, and increase awareness and vocabulary of thoughts, feelings, and needs.
  • Learn about the importance of empathy and how to empathize in NVC.
